Dog Walking
Why Walk your dog?
1. Physical Exercise: Regular walks provide essential physical exercise for your dog. It helps them burn excess energy, maintain a healthy weight, and strengthens their muscles and cardiovascular system.
2. Mental Stimulation: Walking allows dogs to experience new smells, sights, and sounds, which helps keep their minds stimulated and engaged. It can help prevent boredom and destructive behaviors that may result from lack of mental stimulation.
3. Socialization: Going for walks exposes your dog to various people, animals, and situations. This helps improve their social skills and comfort level around strangers, other dogs, and different environments.
4. Bonding Opportunity: Walking together strengthens the bond between you and your dog. Spending quality time together on a walk enhances your relationship, builds trust, and reinforces obedience training. This is a great exercise for those dogs who may have trust issues with new handlers.
5. Behavioral Improvement: Dogs that are regularly walked tend to have better behavior overall. Physical and mental exercise helps reduce hyperactivity, anxiety, and other behavior issues. It can also help with leash training and teaching them manners.
Why not walk your dog?
1. Time Commitment: Walking your dog requires time and consistency. Depending on their breed and energy levels, some dogs may need multiple walks throughout the day. Time spent walking may reduce your availability for other activities.
2. Inclement Weather: Walking in extreme weather conditions like heatwaves, thunderstorms, or snowstorms can be challenging and potentially harmful for both you and your dog. This might limit your ability to walk them regularly.
3. Leash Struggles: Dogs that pull on the leash can make walking frustrating and tiring. It requires training and patience to teach them proper leash manners, ensuring the walk is enjoyable for both of you.
4. Health and Safety Concerns: While out for a walk, a dog may come into contact with potential dangers such as aggressive dogs, poisonous plants, or hazardous substances on the ground. Taking necessary precautions, such as vaccinations, proper leash control, and avoiding unfamiliar areas, is crucial.
5. Physical Limitations: If you have physical limitations or health issues, walking your dog might be challenging.
Pet Sitting
What sets us apart?
1. Individualized attention: We understand that each pet is unique with their own personality and needs. Our pet sitters take the time to get to know your pet, including their feeding schedule, exercise routine, and any special behaviors they may have. Whether your pet thrives on playtime and cuddles, or struggle with leash reactivity and anxiety, we tailor our services to meet their individual needs.
2. Comfortable and safe environment: In order to create a stress-free and secure space for your pet, we believe at home is the best option for them. With their own living areas, familar beds, and close-to-regular routine, your pet will feel right at home, because they are!
3. Regular exercise and mental stimulation: Aggietails believes in keeping your pet active and engaged. Our sitters take your pet for daily walks and provide ample playtime to keep them physically and mentally stimulated. Whether it's a game of fetch, a puzzle toy, or finding new ways to hand feed, we ensure your pet stays entertained throughout their stay.
4. Professional and loving staff: Our pet sitters are not only well-trained in animal care but also passionate about their role. They genuinely love interacting with pets and treat them as if they were their own. Our team is experienced in handling various breeds and temperaments, ensuring a comforting and pawsitive experience for your furry friend.
5. Regular updates and communication: We understand the importance of staying connected with your pet while you're away. Our sitters provide regular updates, including photos, videos and tips, to keep you informed of your pet's daily activities. You can have peace of mind knowing that your pet is in good hands and thriving in your absence.
That’s where we come in
Aggietails offers a personalized and attentive pet care experience that ensures your dog feels loved and cared for in your absence. Our goal is to build trusting relationships with your pets in order to maintain healthy communication when out on a walk, and help them feel at peace when someone new is in their home. We prioritize the pet’s safety, behavior, medical needs and we’ll take care of your pet as if they are our own.
How it works:
Start with a meet and greet. We come to you! This is when we properly meet your dog outside the home and go for a little stroll. Pawrents show us around and tell us all about the dog’s needs, leash behaviors, fears, favorite treats and walking routines. From there, you literally and figuratively hand over the leash where we build a foundation of trust between handler and dog.
What makes Aggietails trustworthy?
At Aggietails, we believe the safety and well-being of your pets are of utmost importance to us. We ensure that all our pet sitters undergo thorough background checks and are trained in pet first aid and animal handling. We treat your pets the same as we treat our own!

Who is Aggietails?
Carissa grew up on a beef cow-calf ranch and farm near rural Lincolnville, KS. She began her career with dogs early in high school when she trained the family farm dog, Max, as a therapy dog. She was able to escort him to school and nursing homes and wrote her senior thesis on the affects of therapy animals in nursing homes. Carissa moved to Manhattan, KS in 2016 to follow her animal science dreams and has been working with dogs in the area ever since. She graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Animal Science and holds a certification of Applied Animal Behavior through the University of Washington. Carissa’s favorite part about working with dogs is building a relationship with each dog and the clients.
Meet Carissa
If you are wondering who that white funny-looking dog is; that’s Jude! Jude is Carissa’s 3-year-old Huskey-Shepherd mix. Jude has her intermediate trick dog title, as well as the CGC Urban certification. Jude enjoys pack walks on the weekends all around MHK with her dog friends. Her favorite activities include wooing for attention, sleeping, eating out of puzzle feeders, snoozing, chasing rabbits, and tucking in after a long hard day’s work of naps.
